Madrid, Spain – November 24, 2023 – The first day of 2023 IFEMA Madrid Horse Week CSI 5*-W has entered its final stretch. The first two classes of the CSI 5*-W have been won by two of the most international winning riders, right after getting the first two places in the Super Grand Prix of the Prague Playoffs last week. Julien Epaillard (FRA) won the €26,700 ¡HOLA! Trophy CSI 5*-W and Henrik von Eckermann (SWE) did the same in the €97,700 Caser Helvetia Group Trophy CSI 5*-W.
Flawless courses were once again the focus in the 1.50m class, with 21 of the 47 participants finishing with no penalty-points. What was not so easy for the participants was to finish the course designed by Javier Trenor (ESP), consisting of 12 obstacles and 15 efforts, in less than 60 seconds. This was only achieved by Henrik Von Eckermann with Dzara Dorchival.

The Swedish rider and the daughter of Qlassic Bois Margot, who had just won their last class in Lyon, clocked 58’22 seconds, which allowed them to win their second consecutive race and receive a great ovation after their ride from a public that filled the stands of the main arena of IFEMA’s Hall 12 this afternoon.
Three of the Philippaerts brothers took part in the competition, with Thibault (BEL), the youngest of the three, being the best classified. The Belgian was second with Jumper d’Oase, with a time of 60’24 seconds.

Ben Maher (GBR), number two in the last FEI ranking, took third place with Enjeu de Grisien, a 9 year old son of Toulon with little experience. The British rider finished the course in 60’63 seconds. Harry Allen (IRL) and Calculatus, winners of the Grand Prix of Gijón CSI 4* a few months ago, took fourth place with 60’78 seconds.
Behind them, Eduardo Álvarez Aznar (ESP), the best Spanish rider in the class, came in fifth place with “D’Orient Batilly”. The pair, who recently won gold at the Spanish Championships, finished in 61.35 seconds.
