Richard Vogel Adds Another Victory to His Achievements at Otomí Grand Prix CSI 5* & CSI 2*

San Miguel de Allende, Mexico – October 22, 2023 – The five-star grand prix victory may have slipped away from him the previous day but Richard Vogel (GER) made sure he completed the first week at the Otomí Grand Prix CSI 5* & CSI 2*, racing to victory in the MXN $1,170,000 GNP Seguros Grand Prix CSI 2*.

After winning the MXN $1,462,500 Visa Grand Prix Qualifier CSI 5* with Cepano Baloubet, Vogel was victorious with Cydello this time. Riders were allowed to compete with two mounts and it was Vogel who overcome 56 other different pairs in the 1.45m jump-off contest. Thirteen of the fifteen combinations who had qualified for the jump-off completed the final track but Richard raced to first place on the 9-year-old Hanoverian gelding (Cascadello x Forsyth FRH), being clean all the way to the wire while being timed in 34.41 seconds.

Two European riders battled it out for first place and Gregory Wathelet (BEL) and Berline du Maillet Z were nipped at the finish line, finishing only four-hundredths of a second behind the eventual winners.

The host nation was not denied a place on the podium. Jose Antonio Chedraui Eguia (MEX) and Good Limit registered the third-fastest clean performance of the decisive round, rounding out the top three in 34.86 seconds.
