
Mill Spring, North Carolina, USA – October 22, 2023 – To close out the week at the Tryon International Equestrian Center & Resort, the Tryon Stadium welcomed 53 competitors to the ring for the opening round of the $25,000 Van Winkle Law Firm Sunday Classic, with 14 horse-and-rider combinations advancing to the tie-breaker round. Securing the top spot was Aaron Vale (USA) and Alise Carrico’s 2011 Warmblood gelding (Its The Business x Ragua), Cristo Beech, with a double-clear time of 33.54 seconds.
Alexandra Worthington (USA) piloted De L’Oiseliere, a 2013 Selle Français gelding (Kapitol D’Argonne x Miss Flight) owned by Turn A Blind Eye, to a second-place finish with a double-clear time of 34.709 seconds.
Rounding out the podium with a clear time of 36.849 seconds was Kelli Cruciotti Vanderveen (USA) aboard Banner Farms’ Mochito V/D Mishagen, a 2012 Belgian Warmblood gelding (Emerald Van’t Ruytershof x Gitane De La Pomme).
