Saint-Lô, France – August 05, 2023 – Once a champion, always a champion. Ever since the birth of his daughter, Ella, and the passing away of Bianca, Steve Guerdat (SUI) has dropped out of the top ten positions in the word rider ranking but the Swiss has remained competitive, proving that again on Saturday at the Pôle Hippique de Saint-Lô.
The all-time great and Easy Star de Talma shone the brightest in the €26,200 Saint-Lô Agglo Prize CSI 3*, a speed challenge that featured 68 combinations trying to clear all the 1.45m obstacles and complete the course within the time allowed of 76 seconds. In the end, Guerdat and the 2014 bay Selle Français stallion (Quick Star x Opium de Talma) galloped triumphantly across the finish line in 63.70 seconds.
Winner of the €26,200 Prix Cheval Liberté CSI 3* the previous day with another mount, Bertram Allen (IRL) came close to registering another win, this time finishing second with Carrera Denfer (Connor 48 x For Pleasure), doing so in 64.11 seconds.
A star on continuous rise in the noble sport, Victor Bettendorf (LUX) completed the top three with Stroudwood Eldarado (Navardo x Carousel), securing bronze honors in 64.66 seconds.
