Bertram Allen & Edison de Hus Excel at the Normandie Horse Show

Saint-Lô, France – August 04, 2023 – Ireland prevails! Ireland is one of the winningest nations when it comes to FEI-level showjumping and Bertram Allen (IRL) proved that on Friday during the Normandie Horse Show CSI 3* & CSI 2* at the Pôle Hippique de Saint-Lô. The Irish rider teamed up with Edison de Hus to claim top honors in the €26,200 Prix Cheval Prize CSI 3*.

The highly-contested jump-off challenge featured seventy-one combinations in the first round but only 20 of them managed to clear all the 1.45m obstacles and complete the course within the time allowed of 80 seconds. Seventeen riders decided to give a go for the gold in the tiebreaker but it was the Irishman and the 2014 bay Selle Français gelding (Conrad x Galoubet du Rouet) who reigned supreme, claiming the lion’s share of the jackpot backed by another fault-free performance, being time in 38.45 seconds.

Damien de Chambord (FRA) was denied victory with Diams de Brimbelles Z (Darco x Dimenos), coming the closest in 39.40 seconds.

One of the all-time greats of the sport and former world number, Steve Guerdat (SUI) had to settle for bronze honors with Is-Minka (Mylord Carthago*HN x Flyinge Quite Easy 958), doing so by being just one-hundredth of a second slower than the previous pair.
