Pinneberg, Germany – August 05, 2023 – Rene Dittmer (GER) was delighted after winning the €30,000 Championat of Itzehoer Versicherung CSI 4*, the world ranking list competition on Saturday at the CSI Hof Waterkant. He teamed up with the Holsteiner mare Corsica 14, by Connor, which was endowed with 30,000 euros. However, the 30-year-old professional was not a “gentleman”, but simply faster than his hostess. “I’ve already had some good placements with Corsica, but this was the first win with her at this level, i.e. at a CSI 4*,” said Dittmer and admitted with a wink that he was “a little” aware that he had pushed Janne Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann (GER) into second place.
In third place was the “series winner” in Grand Prix, Mynou Diederichsmeier (GER) with her lightning-fast chestnut mare Quick and Fly. A total of 13 pairs remained error-free after flying through the two-phase course. Thte 1.50m contest was entertainment for the many spectators who curiously conquered the seating around the course and the exhibition on Saturday and were rewarded with mild sunshine and the finest entertainment.
The 10-year-old Holstein mare (Connor x Corofino II) is one year younger than Cornela, with whom Janne Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann (GER) took second place. The breeder and owner Friedrich Meyer must have been pleased and satisfied with the daughter, the trainer of his horse.
The weather was suddenly a pleasant topic on Saturday. Rene Dittmer (GER) emphasized that the organizers did everything in their power to make it as pleasant as possible for horses and riders despite the heavy rain: “Nobody can do anything about the weather.”
Christoph Zimmermann did not hide the fact that there were sleepless and busy nights. “Before the start, we actually considered canceling, but we received so much encouragement from outside, from a number of riders, who all wrote that they were coming and were not deterred by the weather,” said the tournament director . And: “Today the national coach Otto Becker called and told me that he hadn’t heard anything negative and thought it was good that we didn’t give in.”
