
Hickstead, England โ July 29, 2023 โ The day’s action came to a close on Saturday at the 2023 edition of the Longines Royal International Horse Show CSIO 5* with the running of the Royal International Speed Classic CSIO 5*. A total of 48 starters came forward for the โฌ25,500 world ranking class, but it was the fifth rider to go who held the lead almost from start to finish. Brazil’s Francisco Josรฉ Mesquita Musa (BRA) and Catch Me Marathon had their second major win of the week, following their victory in Thursday’s โฌ26,200ย The Royal International Trophy CSIO 5*.
Again, Musa was masterful aboard Daniel Aguiar Morelli’s 15-year-oldย Hanoverian mareย (Contagio x Werther), securing the win in 64.35 seconds.
Just as two days before, Musa denied the host nation the victory, this time in the 1.45m speed challenge. Nicole Lockhead Anderson (GBR) and Christian Street (Christian 25, x Poker 49) were right on the heels of the eventual winners, earning second place in 64.43 seconds.
Joseph Stockdale (GBR) and Equine Rescue Service Kandleford (Kannan x Pythagoras) was just four-tenths of a second behind the latter two, conquering bronze honors in flawless fashion, being timed in 64.83 seconds.
