Doha, Qatar – February 23, 2023 – A great first day of top sport and showtime showjumping took place on Thursday at the Al Shaqab. In the day’s final event – last year’s Grand Prix-winning pair again took first place: Germany’s Marcus Ehning (GER) and Stargold, a 2011 bay Oldenburg stallion (Stakkato Gold x Lord Weingard) triumphed in the €97,700 F&T Speed Challenge CSI 5*, completing their penalty-free performance in 63.52 seconds.
They were followed by two of the top three-place riders from the earlier 5* class. Once again Francisco José Mesquita Musa climbed onto the podium, finishing second in 63.67 seconds, this time Catch Me Marathon (Contagio x Werther).
Kevin Staut (FRA) rounded out the top three, riding Chepetta (Chepetto x Cash) across the finish line in 64.24 seconds.
