Vejer de La Frontera – February 12, 2023 – A busy Sunday featured no less than three grands prix to conclude the first week of the Andalucía Sunshine Tour and the tradition of the German school of riding was honored as Jana Wargers (GER) rode Deesse de Coquerie victory in the €28,000 Medium Tour Grand Prix CSI 4*, held on grass in the Hickstead arena.
A total of forty-eight combinations challenged the first round course designed by Uliano Vezzani (ITA) with a third of them advancing to the tiebreaker of the 1.50m contest. And they saved the best for last! As the last ones to go, Jana and the 10-year-old bay Selle Français mare (Consul di Vie Z x Papillon Rouge Normandie) made the most of the opportunity, claiming the win in flawless fashion while crossing the timers in 39.54 seconds.
Until then Scott Brash (GBR) had held the top spot with Hello Valentino (Diamantino x Careful 28). Their time of 42.28 seconds was good enough for second place.
Third place was claimed by Martin Fuchs (SUI) on Viper Z (Vigo D’Arsouilles STX x Grannus), doing so after two penalty-free performances, the decisive one in 42.43 seconds.
