Oliva Nova, Spain – January 28, 2021 – David Will (GER) and Forest Gump 29 were back in the winner’s circle again on Thursday during the third week of Spring MET I at the Mediterranean Equestrian Tour. The dynamic won the main class of the week, the €26,400 Grand Prix Qualifier CSI 3* and the honors of the Dammann Reitplatz- u. Sportplatzbau Trophy.
Will and the 2006 bay Oldenburg gelding (Forsyth x Feuewerk) are no strangers to the podium there, having won another Grand Prix Qualifier CSI 2* two weeks ago and also had many top placings there this season. This time, they were supreme in the 1.45m speed challenge after leaving all the poles up for no penalties and crossing the finish line in 61.23 seconds.
It was a challenge for the top spots between two previous winning combinations at the 2021 Mediterranean Equestrian Tour. After wining the a Grand Prix Qualifier CSI 2* themselves almost two weeks ago, Pius Schwizer (SUI) and Balou Rubin R (Balou du Rouet x Coleur Rubin R) teamed up for another solid outing, this time finishing second in 62.57 seconds.
Despite being early in the season, it was a high-level contest with Steve Guerdat (SUI), the current number-one ranked rider in the world, finishing third aboard Ulysse des Forets (Col Canto x Le Tot de Semilly). The Swiss and the famous Selle Français mare tripped the timers in 64.02 seconds for bronze honors.
