Quarteira, Faro, Portugal – January 28, 2021 – Laura Renwick (GBR) was the first winner of a Longines Ranking class this year at the Vilamoura Atlantic Tour. Like many times before at Francisco Moura Arena of the Vilamoura Equestrian Center, the British rider rode Arkuga to win the €25,700 Speed Challenge CSI 3*.
Renwick rode the 2011 Anglo-European Sport Horse (AES) gelding (Arko III x Heartbreaker) beautifully throughout the 1.45m track before tripping the timers in 59.32 seconds for the victory.
The next two top placings were claimed by former winning riders there too. Michael Pender (IRL) and HHS Javas Gucci (Luidam x Cruising) were the closest ones, earning silver honors due to their time of 60.08 seconds.
Piergiorgio Bucci (ITA) and Naiade d’Elsendam Z (Nabab de Reve x Quattro B) completed the podium with no penalties, finishing exactly a half of a second slower than the latter two.
