Bordeaux, France – Friday, February 07, 2020 – Six Frenchmen in the first six places, the International Jumping of Bordeaux could not have started better for the team in blue!
A result that the national coach, Thierry Pomel (FRA), is quite happy about: “We would love it it to be like this all the time! When my riders dominate a class in this way, it is obviously a good start of the show, but what makes me even happier is the way they did it; the horses jumped really well this afternoon.”
And among all those horses that jumped well, it was that of Marc Dilasser (FRA), the 13-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding Cliffton Belesbat (Clinton x Halando II v.d.Watering) who was the fastest, registering no penalties in 55.14 seconds.
Benôit Cernin (FRA) and Vackanda de Lojou (Apache d’Adriers x Diamant de Semilly) and last year’s Land Rover Grand Prix winner Félicie Bertrand (FRA) and Vahine de Favi completed this 100% French podium, backed by penalty-free performances each, timed in 56.21 seconds and 59.37 seconds respectively.
Olympic champions Roger-Yves Bost (FRA) and Philippe Rozier (FRA), Olivier Perreau (FRA) followed, completing the “all-French Armada Sweep”.
Winner’s Circle: Marc Dilasser (FRA)
“It is always good to win the first class of a 5* competition. Cliffton was feeling good; I started the course telling myself that I was going to see how he would behave. I did not take any strides out in the lines, however I managed to do very quick turns. He has a lot of experience now. He had a very good round without having to force anything, I am very proud of him.”
