Christian Coyle Conquers the $30,000 Adirondack Jumper Classic at the Lake Placid Horse Show

Lake Placid, New York, USA – June 28, 2024 – Christian Coyle (IRL) rode Ma Pomme de Tamerville to the win in the $30,000 Adirondack Jumper Classic, Friday’s featured class at the 55th annual Lake Placid Horse Shows (LPHS), Sponsored by Bainbridge Farms and Presented by Sea Shore Stables. Featuring a full, two-week schedule with more than $540,000 in prize money, the Lake Placid Horse Shows continue at the North Elba Showgrounds through July 7.

Located in the historic Olympic town of Lake Placid, NY, the annual LPHS offer two weeks of exciting equestrian competition in a setting no other horse show can match, surrounded by breathtaking views of the Adirondack Mountains and the chance to enjoy countless activities that help make the Lake Placid Horse Shows, “The Best Two Weeks of a Horseman’s Summer!” LPHS hosts competitions for riders of all levels and ages ranging from young children on polished ponies, to glistening hunters, to Olympic veterans aboard their grand prix mounts.

Coyle was one of five entries to advance to the jump-off by riding clean over the 15-jump first-round course designed by Michel Vaillancourt. Brian Moggre (USA) was the first to return for the eight-jump tiebreaker, and he set the mark to beat with a clean ride in 35.073 seconds on his longtime partner, MTM Vivre Le Reve. Laura Chapot followed Moggre and moved him out of the lead with a clean ride in 34.528 seconds on the 19-year-old Oldenburg, Chandon Blue.

Coyle, who won the Jumper Classic in 2022 on Coco Mercedes, followed Chapot and rode his 12-year-old mare to what proved to be the winning ride, finishing clean in 33.780 seconds. Chapot’s time held up for second place, with Moggre finishing third.

LPHS action starts at 8:00 a.m. daily, with classes running simultaneously in four spectacular show rings – the Richard M. Feldman Grand Prix Field, the E.R. Mische Jumper Ring, the Main Hunter Ring, and the Hunter Ring. The Lake Placid Horse Show (June 25-30) is highlighted by the $75,000 Grand Prix of Lake Placid on Sunday, June 30. The I Love New York Horse Show follows on July 2-7, with highlights including the $75,000 Richard M. Feldman Grand Prix on Sunday, July 7. Each week also features a $5,000 USHJA National Hunter Derby.

A USEF Heritage Competition, the LPHS shows feature USHJA World Championship Hunter Rider (WCHR) Northeast events, Green Hunter Incentive classes, hunter and jumper classics, and divisions for Young Jumpers and 0.85m Junior/Amateur Jumpers. Additionally, LPHS offers classes that are part of the Show Jumping Hall of Fame Jumper Classic Series and North American League (NAL).
