Grimaud, Saint Tropez, France – May 07, 2023 – Julien Gonin (FRA) and Estrella de La Batia had been knocking on the door for a Grand Prix, coming second and third a combined 3 times the past three months and the dynamic duo finally delivered, topping the €26,200 Hubside Grand Prix CSI 2* on Sunday during the Spring Tour II at the Hubside Jumping de Grimaud – Saint Tropez CSI 3* & CSI 2*.

Nine of the fifty-six combinations who took part in the first round of the contests cleared all the 1.45m obstacles and completed the course designed by Stefano Morriale (ITA), thus advancing to the tiebreaker. In the end, the Frenchman and the 2014 bay Selle Français mare (Diamant de Semilly x Lando) were supreme by delivering another fault-free while registering the fastest time among all the finalists, being timed in 37.05 seconds.

After winning the €26,200 Hubside Jump-off Challenge CSI 3* with Arlo de Blondel the previous day, Nicola Pohl (GER) and Fiona des Hayettes (Lord des Hayettes x Ryon d’Anzex) were almost two seconds slower, duplicating their clean performance of the first round in 38.87 for silver honors.

Donald Whitaker (GBR) and Nikita du Roton (Elvis Ter Putte x Chippendale Z x Martine Rolin) rounded out the top three, registering no penalties and a final time of 39.24 seconds.
