Riesenbeck, Germany – February 11, 2023 – Fifty-two starters saddled their horses for the €27,150 Grand Prix of Riesenbeck CSI 2*. Course designer Peter Schumacher (GER), a welcomed presence in Riesenbeck and also responsible for the leg of the Longines Global Champions Tour in July at the venue as the results of his much-praised courses, together with Frank Rothenberger, had a difficult task to master. Eleven combinations qualified for the jump-off but it was Frederick Troschke (GER) and Camelot 143 who left the pursuers just behind.
Riding the ten-year-old gelding bay Oldenburg gelding (Cabachon x Baloubet du Rouet), Troschke (GER) topped the 1.45m challenge by clearing all the poles for the seconds time while being timed in 34.78 seconds.
He won ahead of Philipp Hartmann (GER) from the stable of Ludger Beerbaum and his 15-year-old gelding Cool Feeling (Cornado I x Lancer II), the top two pairs being separated by only eight-hudredths of a second (34.86). Since the couple had already finished second last weekend, there was a mixture of anger for missing out on victory and joy for repeated good results.
Spectators were fascinated by an exciting tiebreaker that provided excitement down right to the last rider. Third place was claimed by another rider of Beerbaum Stables. Christian Kukuk (GER) and the twelve-year-old grey gelding Creature (Colestus x Re Mexico), completed the all-German podium backed by a clean scorecard and jump-off time of 36.06 seconds.
