Home Hero Jarosław Skrzyczyński Victorious in the $109,000 PKO Bank Polski Grand Prix CSI 2* at Cavaliada Sopot

Sopot, Poland – February 05, 2023 – Home hero Jarosław Skrzyczyński (POL) was victorious in the PLN $109,000 PKO Bank Polski Grand Prix CSI 2* on Sunday during the leg of the Cavaliada Tour at Sopot. The highlight of the Cavaliada sports program in Sopot was the 1.45m challenge, under the patronage of the Mayor of Sopot, counting for the world ranking and Cavaliada Tour. The competition gathered 33 horse-and-ridercombinations on the starting list.

“The course designer – Arkadiusz Weckwert – set up a very good and demanding course. Its dificulty was more visible in the second part, and some of the technical questions included the alternative distance to the white vertical number 10 and the double Grupa MTP combination.” – said Szymon Tarant, the Sports Director of Cavaliada Tour.

Ultimately 5 of the riders completed the course flawlessly, and Jarosław Skrzyczyński (POL) with 10-year-old Royal Dutch Sport Horse – Dutch Warmblood Inturido (Zambesi TN x Verdi TN) triumphed in the jump-off. The athlete was unbeatable during this year’s edition of Cavaliada Sopot, as he won all the competitions of the Big Tour. History likes to repeat itself, because the pair also won the first-ever Grand Prix of Cavaliada Sopot last year.

“Riding as the last one is an easier task, but also more pressure, we know how the others went, but we can’t afford to make mistakes. I think you always have to take risks. During Cavaliada my horses were definitely in great shape and I just led them through the courses, I tried my best and it turned out as it turned out.” said the winner.

Tomasz Miśkiewicz (POL) & Stakkato Lazar

Second place was claimed Tomasz Miśkiewicz (POL) with Stakkato Lazar: “I didn’t risk it in the jump-off much, I was hoping for Mr. Jarek to stumble, but he doesn’t stumble!”

Kamil Grzelczyk (POL) & Wibaro

Kamil Grzelczyk (POL) with Wibaro topped off the podium: “I was the first to go, then you always have to take a little risk. I had to do just that, I made a mistake and there was a knockdown, but I’m happy with the consistent form of my horses.”

The winner’s son, 16-year-old Patryk Skrzyczyński (POL), also had a lot to celebrate. His second time over a class at this height and rank, he went clear over the first course and ultimately placed fifth with his father’s previous mount – Jerico, scoring his first points in the world ranking.

With today’s victory, Skrzyczyński strengthened his position as the leader of the Cavaliada Tour and stands a chance for another career victory in this cycle during the grand finale in Krakow.
