Vanessa Hood & Lou Lou VLS Fly the Highest in $37,000 Power & Speed CSI 3* at Tryon

Mill Spring, North Carolina – October 19, 2022 – Vanessa Hood (USA) got off to a great start during the fifth of week of the Tryon Fall Series at the Tryon International Equestrian Center, claiming top honors in the $37,000 Power & Speed CSI 3* was with Take Two LLC’s Lou Lou VLS.

Thirty-six entries traversed the Michel Vaillancourt (CAN) course, with Hood and 2011 Belgian Warmblood mare Lou Lou VLS (Elvis Ter Putte x Erco Van’t Roosakker) being the fastest double clear to take the win, doing with a time of 38.24 seconds in the speed phase.

Jacqueline Ruyle (USA) & Cyramo Z

Jacqueline Ruyle (USA) and her own 2011 Zangersheide mare Cyramo Z (Clarimo x Vigo D Arsouilles STX) took the second place position with a time of 38.48 seconds.

Roberto Teran Tafur (COL) & Santana

Third place was claimed by Roberto Teran Tafur (COL) riding Rocking Basilisk Farm LLC’s Santana (Cascadello I x Carthago) with a time of 38.78 seconds.

“My goal was to jump clear in the first phase and then just execute my plan in the second phase. I did the leave out in six after the double and a lot of people did seven. It was a little bit of an ambitious leave out, but I just committed right away and I knew my horse would be right there with me, and she was. I think that was what made the difference for the win.”

Lou Lou VLS and Hood have been partners for a bit now: “I’ve had [Lou Lou VLS] for a couple of years now. She was USEF Horse of the Year last year in the High Amateur Owner Jumpers. This year, we’re starting to step her up just a little bit, do some national Grand Prixs and our goal was to jump some ranking classes. And so for her to win one of my first ranking classes with her is amazing.”

“I think TIEC has a great facility,” Hood exclaimed, “I think it’s nice for the horses. The stabling is nice and the footing is great. There’s a lot of great class offerings, between the FEI classes and the national classes. I also jump the amateur jumpers, so for me, it’s an ideal show.  I can bring a number of horses and there are divisions for each one of them, and so it ends up being a great show to come to for my team.”
