La Baule, France – May 08, 2022 – Despite not winning any of the three most important classes of the 2022 Jumping International de La Baule CSIO 5*, France did not disappoint either. After two wins earlier in the week by Mathieu Billot it was Laurent Goffinet (FRA) and Absolut de Lacke who delighted the responsive crowd on the stands of the François André stadium with the victory in the €25,500 Prix Palais des Congrès et des Festivals Jacques Chirac Atlantia CSIO 5*.

Going up against 45 other combinations in the 1.45m two-phase challenge, Goffinet galloped aboard the 2010 grey Selle Français gelding (Diamant de Semilly x Parco), completing the second section of the course without having any penalties attributed to them and still registering the fastest time of 24.31 seconds for top honors.

After wining the the €40,000 Derby of La Baule CSIO 5*, the previous day, Denis Lynch (IRL) came close to scoring a second victory. The Irishman rode GC Chopin’s Bushi (Contendro II x Nairobi) towards silver honors, the only difference being their final time of 24.73 seconds.

The competition was fierce and the difference between the winners and third place finishers was less than half a second. Julien Gonin (FRA) and Caprice de Guinfard (Mylord Carthago*HN x Socrate de Chivre) finished only six-hudredths of a second slower than the latter two, a mark that earned them the third spot on the podium.
