Grimaud, France – September 25, 2021 – Do the British want to take over Grimaud? After Holly Smith’s double the day before, it was Guy Williams (GBR) this afternoon who was flying the Union Jack in the ring. He won the €30,000 Hubside Special Two Phase CSI 5* last Saturday with Rouge de Ravel, with whom he had already won the Grand Prix of Bonheiden CSI 2* (BEL).
The British rider and the 16-year-old Selle Français stallion (Ultimo Van Ter Moude x Quouglof Rouge) triumphed against 31 other starters by advancing to and completing the second phase of the 1.45m challenge without having any penalties attributed to them, registering 34.97 seconds for the victory.
France’s Marie Pellegrin (FRA) with Alcazar du Moulin (Mylord Carthago*HN x Allegreto) was second in 36.45 seconds , while
Olivier Perreau (FRA) rounded off the leading trio aboard GL Events Dolce Deceuninck Toulon x Cartier van de Heffinck), backed by a clean scorecard and a final time of 36.59 seconds.
