Mathieu Billot & Bad Boy du Bobois Charge to Victory in €35,000 Hubside Jump-off Challenge CSI 4*

Grimaud, Saint Tropez, France – July 09, 2021 – He is going to represent France in a few days at the Olympic Games in Tokyo and the least we can say is that Mathieu Billot breathes the fury to win! Last Thursday, in the CSI 2* and 4 * of the Hubside Jumping Grimaud-Golfe de Saint-Tropez, the rider won twice!

To begin the day, the Frenchman was victorious in the CSI 2*, riding Cycnos d’Helby, but that was not all! A few hours later, in the main CSI 4* challenge, a jump-off class with obstacles set 1.50 m, Mathieu Billot (FRA) was victorious again, this time with Bad Boy du Bobois. The Frenchman overcame 9 other combinations in the tiebreaker, guiding the 2011 bay Selle Français gelding (Nabab de Reve x Tresor de Cheux) flawlessly across the finish line in 39.95 seconds.

François Xavier Boudant (FRA) & GFE Cicave du Talus

François Xavier Boudant (FRA) and GFE Cicave du Talus (Untouchable M x Voltaire) were the only other combination to register two clean performances, completing the second one in 40.40 seconds.

Emilio Bicocchi (ITA) & Rondine del Terriccio

Emilio Bicocchi (ITA) and Rondine del Terriccio had one rail down for penalty-points in the tiebreaker but were still able to secure bronze honors due to their final time of 40 seconds flat.

Winner’s Circle – Mathieu Billot (FRA)

“Winning this class is a great satisfaction. Bad Boy du Bobois is really a very good horse, which I have had for a long time. In the past, I had some control issues which have started to be resolved since this year: he passed a course and is getting better and better. In this event, he jumped very well in the first round, and in the jump-off, I felt it really well, I was able to advance. Yesterday, he almost won a class, but had the penultimate obstacle down. He is nevertheless in great shape at the moment: it was the right event to win and he did it! Starting the day with a victory as was the case this morning brings a good condition and confidence: it’s always better than going through a series of trials with four penalty points like yesterday! (laughs)”
