Grimaud, France – May 07, 2021 – David Will (GER) and Quentucky Jolly dashed for the cash and the win in the €25,400 Hubside Speed Challenge CSI 5* on Friday during the second week of the Hubside Jumping Spring Tour CSI 5*, 4* & 2*.
Known as one of the fastest riders in the world, the German lived up to his reputation, commanding the 2004 bay Selle Français gelding (Nirvana – Fabiola d’Epinette) towards a fault-free performance and the fastest time of 62.82 seconds to claim first place.
François Mathy Jr. (BEL) and Casanova L’Herse (Ugano Sitte x Kashmir Van Schuttershof) were not too far behind the winning duo’s lightning fast effort, tripping the timers in 63.55 seconds for silver honors.
After winning the €100,000 Hubside Grand Prix CSI 4* last Sunday, Eduardo Álvarez Aznar (ESP) had another solid outing. This time, the Spaniard teamed up with Mogambo for the third spot on the podium, registering no penalties in 63.71 seconds.
Winner’s Circle – David Will (GER)
“It’s always a great joy to win a great class. Quentucky Jolly is a very fast horse, who always gives his all. We were the last to go into this contest, and there’s always a chance! I took the time to look at many performances and had clearly spotted the pitfalls to avoid. This position clearly allows many measured risks. Tomorrow, Jolly will compete in the main class; C Vier 2 will go in the Grand Prix on Sunday. Today he was clear in the main class, just had three time penalty-points.”
