Vejer de La Frontera, Spain โ March 4, 2021ย – It was a quiet start to the fourth week here at Dehesa Montenmedio before the Sunshine Tour was forced to call off the remaining 3 days of the fourth week as well as the other 3 weeks of competition due to the cases of Equine Herpes Virus – EHV-1. However, the event did manage to hold a few classes last week, with the CSI 2* and with 400 competitors taking to the arenas before the shutdown.ย The successful German rider, Richard Vogel (GER) once again showed his pure class in more than one class.
But these werenโt the only successes for Richard in this new CSI 2*. In the biggest class of the day, the two phase special class at 1.45m, he took the top spotย with Morton vโt Merelsnest. He rode a brilliant round and finished the second phase in a mere 25.84s, almost 4s faster than the German Olympic rider, Katharina Offel(GER) who took second place with her mare Elien (Carambole x Mermus R), timed in 28.57 seconds.
The third spot on the podium was secured by Japanese rider Toshiki Masui (JPN) aboard Elstar (Larino), completing both sections of the challenge flawlessly and crossing the finis line in 28.63 seconds.
