Michael Pender & HHS Calais Claim Feature Class at Vilamoura CSI 3*

Vilamoura, Quarteira, Faro, Portugal – February 11, 2021 – Britain and Ireland were once again in a fierce battle for the top spot in Friday’s feature class during the third week of the Vilamoura Champions Tour at the Vilamoura Equestrian Centre. In the end, Great Britain managed to secure two combinations amongst the top three, however, it was Ireland that claimed victory as Michael Pender (IRL) and HHS Calais completed their second performance in the €25,700 Jump-off Challenge CSI 3*.

Previous Grand Prix winners there, the Irishman guided the 2011 bay Irish Sport Horse gelding (Cavalier Royale x Obos Quality 004) towards another two penalty-free runs in the 1.45m contest, securing the victory in 35.23 seconds

Guy Williams (GBR) and Crispina Z (Corofino 2 x V. Bon Ami) galloped across the finish line in 37.84 seconds for the runner-up position, also registering two fault-free efforts.

Jack Whitaker (GBR) and Haya Loma Z (Emerald Lupicor) were the other British combination that secured a spot on the podium, doing so in 38.09 seconds.

2) Guy Williams (GBR) & Crispina Z – 0 / 0 – 37.84
