Gudrun Patteet & Sea Coast Kashmira Z Leave the Competition in the Dust at the Sunshine Tour CSI 3*

Vejer de la Frontera, Spain – February 12, 2021 – Friday’s main winner at the Sunshine Tour was a Belgian rider who has regularly seen on the podium here at the Tour, Gudrun Patteet (BEL) with her very fast mare Sea Coast Kashmira Z. Geolastic is the company that a specializes in the construction of equestrian arena surfaces and who built the new Retina Z ring’s ‘Ebb and Flow’ system.  The company maintains all of the artificial surfaces at the Dehesa Montenmedio and today Geolastic, were the sponsors of the first FEI Longines Ranking class of this edition of the Sunshine Tour. 

There were 14 clears in the first round of this 1.50m Big Tour C class over a track designed by Louis Konickx.  In the end, Patteet and the 11-year-old Zangersheide mare (Kashmir van Schuttershof x Libero H) were supreme, leaving the rest of the competition in the dust after blazing across the finish line in 34.88 seconds to take home the lion’s share of the €25,700 purse.

Kim Emmen (NED) & Warriors Glory

Second place was taken by Kim Emmen (NED) on her very consistent Warriors Glory (Warrior x Caretino Glory), going clear and over two seconds behind with a time of 37.57 seconds.

Richard Vogel (GER) & Floyo VDL

Richard Vogel (GER) and Floyo VDL (Baltic vdl x Contender) secured the third fastest clear jump-off, tripping the final timers in 37.79 seconds.

After receiving the Trophy from the Director of Geolastic, Guillermo González Eguinoa, Gudrun told us “It seems like my mare really likes this arena!”  It’s not the first time that this pair have won similar classes in this arena, just last year they were the winners of both the Horseware Grand Prix CSI 2* and also the Grand Prix sponsored by the Diputación de Cádiz.

My mare jumped really well both in the first round and the jump off.  I’m very happy with her.  The track was big enough but comfortable for the horses and rode well.” Gudrun told us she plans to “compete in the Horseware GP on Sunday with Monalisa, who needs to continue to build up her experience and in the Equine America GP, in the second week of the Tour, I will ride Kashmira”.
