Vejer de la Frontera, Spain – February 11, 2021 – The first Medium and Big Tour classes took place on Thursday at the 27th Sunshine Tour and German riders were at the top of their game across the board. The first Big Tour C class had 57 entries competing on the pristine “David Broome” grass arena over a course by the Dutch course designer Louis Konickx (NED), a 1.50m class held under Table A.
The class was won by David Will (GER) and Forest Gump 29, the German rider being one of the top 50 riders in the Longines FEI World Ranking. He rode the very experienced 15-year-old Oldenburg gelding (Forsyth x Feuewerk), registering no penalties in 60.98 seconds.
In second place was his compatriot and business partner the 23-year-old old Richard Vogel (GER), riding Morton van’t Merelsnest, a 9-year-old Belgian Warmblood gelding (Nabab de Reve x Darco) he has been very successful with in both 3 and 4* and whom he has been riding since December 2019. The duo completed their clean effort in 62.13 seconds.
Third place was taken by the regular Belgium rider here at the Tour, Gudrun Patteet (BEL) aboard Sea Coast Monalisa van’t Paradijs, completing their fault-free effort in 66.64 seconds. Today they had a very good round and are well used to success in this arena as they won two out of the five Grand Prix classes in last year’s Tour.
