Olympic, World & European Champion Michael Jung Steals the Spotlight on Saturday at Salzburg CSI 4*

Salzburg, Austria – January 23, 2021 – It was an Olympic, world and European champion in eventing stole the spotlight on Saturday during second week of the Neuro Socks Amadeus Horse Indoors CSI 4* & 2* at the Salzburg Arena. The main competition was the championship of Salzburg CSI 4*, under the patronage of Travel Charme Hotels and was considered the second qualification for the โ‚ฌ100,000 Neuro Socks Grand Prix CSI 4* on Sunday.

Saturday’s feature jump-off contest had fences set at 1.55m high, with 65 combinations looking to take home the lion’s share of the โ‚ฌ45,000 euros offered. A total of 13 pairs qualified for the tiebreaker after a penalty-free performance by each of them.In the end, Michael Jung (GER) galloped off the field as the winner at a late hour. The eventing legend has reached to the top of showjumping too, this time with the 13-year-old Westphalian mare Fischerchelsea (Check In x Argent). In fact, Jung has been collecting top placings in showjumping rings around the world since 2016, proving his maestry again with a clean, fast jump-off in 42.04 seconds for the victory.

The runner-up in the Travel Charme Championship of Salzburg CSI 4* came from Great Britain. Samuel Hutton (GBR) and the 12-year-old H&M Kirlo van den Bosrand (Cardento 933 x Utrillo vd Heffinck) also delivered a double clear, finishing in an honorable second-place after crossing the finish line in 42.67 seconds.Altogether there were seven faultless rides in the jump-off.

Felix HaรŸmann (GER) was consistent again, securing the third-fastest penalty-free effort in the decisive phase. Two wins, a 2nd place and 12th place were his previous results in the four CSI 4* classes held so far at the Salzburg Arena. And he continued this successful series in the saddle of SIG Chaccinus (Chacco-Blue x Acord II). Double zero in a time of 42.72 seconds and 3rd place in the world class field.
