Quarteira, Faro, Portugal – November 11, 2020 – The British flag was raised high above the rest yesterday during the sixth week of the 2020 Vilamoura Champions Tour at the Vilamoura Equestrian Centre.
Since the two-phase class with aggregated penalties had 127 entries and according to FEI rules, it had to be split into two sections, following the California split format. In the end, Guy Williams (GBR) and Rouge de Ravel earned top honors in the €25,600 Two-Phase Challenge CSI 4*, advancing to and completing the second part of the 1.50m challenge without having tallied any penalties. The Brit guided the 2005 bay Selle Français stallion (Ultimo Van Ter Moude x Quouglof Rouge) flawless across the finish line in 31.88 seconds.
John Whitaker (GBR) and Unick du Francport (Zandor x Helios de La Cour II) were the runners-up, registering a clean scorecard and a final time of 32.30 seconds.
Lily Attwood (GBR) and Cor-Leon vd Vierbeek Z completed the all-British podium only a half second slower than the latter two.
