Geneva, Switzerland – December 14, 2019 – It was a battle between two of Switzerland’s equestrian heroes for the jackpot with Steve Guerdat (SUI) and Venard de Cerisy claiming the win in the CHF $100,000 Coupe de Geneve CSI 5* yesterday during the CHI of Geneva 5* at the Palexpo.
A total of fifteen combinations of the 36 combinations that entered the ring to face the 1.55m obstacles managed to advanced to jump-off. However, the number one ranked-rider in the world came out on top aboard the 10-year-old bay Selle Français gelding (Open Up Semilly x Djalisco du Guet) by registering their second penalty-free effort in 29.53 seconds.
The top two were from the host nation and matched their FEI world jumping rankings as Martin Fuchs (SUI) and Silver Shine (Califax x Balou du Rouet) earned silver honors with a double clear and a final time of 30.48 seconds.
Marcus Ehning (GER) was third, riding A la Carte NRW (Abke x Lux) flawlessly across the finish line in 31.64 seconds at the end of their performance in the tiebreaker.
