Vejer de la Frontera, Spain – March 01, 2019 – Last Friday was a very intense day of jumping at the twenty-fifth Sunshine Tour. The big class was a €25,750 points class that counted for the FEI Longines Rankings and it was sponsored by the German Equestrian channel, ClipMyHorse TV. This is the official channel where for the whole six weeks, you can follow all of the live action here at Montenmedio.
It was rather apt then Marcel Marschall (GER) was the receiver of the trophy and that the German anthem “Deutschlandlied” rang out across the showground. From the twelve riders that got through to the jump-off only half managed a second clear round and Marcel, riding Fenia Van Klapscheut (Cicero Z van Paemel x Ahorn Z), gave the others lesson of how to ride accurately at speed, completing the jump-off with no penalties in 38.17 seconds.
Holly Smith (GBR) took second place with a superb round on Hearts Destiny (Heart Throb x Rabino), registering a double clear and a final time of 38.39 seconds. Laura Kraut (USA) completed the top three, riding Zeremonie, a 12-year-old old Holsteiner mare (Cero x Quick Star) that she rode as part of the team winning gold at World Equestrian Games (WEG) in Tryon. The American counted on two penalty-free performances and a final time of 38.74 seconds to earn bronze honors.
