Two hundred and three combinations appeared at the start in the first qualification for 7-year old horses yesterday during the FEI / WBSFH World Breeding Jumping Championships for Young Horses at the Zangersheide venue in Lanaken, Belgium.
No less than 73 combinations noted a double clear in this two-phase class over a height of 1m40. It was Ireland who claimed the victory thanks to Susan Fitzpatric (IRL) and her brown gelding Keatingstown Z Wellie Two (Z Wellie 72 – Breeder: Sharon Fitzpatrick). They were able to stop the clock in 29.33 seconds.
Also Carron Nicol (GBR) produced a very fast jump-off: the British finished second in 29.80 seconds with Galerius (Diamant De Semilly – Breeder: Stoeterij het Maalwater).
Third place also went to Great Britain thanks to Donald Whitaker (GBR). He stopped the clock in 30.20 seconds with Toki II (Cascall – Breeder: Willi Sander). For Christian Ahlmann there was a fourth place in 30.24 seconds with his home-bred Zampano Z. Willem Greve and Grandorado TN (Eldorado van de Zeshoek – Breeder: Rietberg & Verhoeven) closed the top five in 30.29 seconds.
