Mill Spring, United States – October 02, 2026 – Amanda Derbyshire GBR and Cornwall BH got off to a winning start in the $32,000 LeMieux Welcome Stake CSI 2* last Friday at the Tryon International Equestrian Center & Resort, delivering a decisive performance against a strong international field. Representing Great Britain, Derbyshire guided the 18-year-old Holsteiner gelding to two faultless rounds, stopping the jump-off clock in 33.63 seconds to claim victory. The result adds another notable win to a partnership that has repeatedly proven its quality at the highest levels of two-star competition.

The winning margin was narrow, with Paul O’Shea (IRL) and Spy also producing a double-clear performance and finishing just 0.17 seconds behind the British combination in 33.80 seconds.

O’Shea’s efficient jump-off secured the runner-up position, while Aaron Vale (USA) and Hulu completed the podium after another pair of clear rounds, crossing the finish line in 34.38 seconds. With only 0.75 seconds separating the top three, the class delivered the kind of close, high-speed finish that has become a hallmark of top-level competition at Tryon.
For Derbyshire, the victory further underlines the remarkable longevity of Cornwall BH, an 18-year-old Holsteiner gelding, who continues to perform at an elite level. The veteran gelding has already collected major results with Derbyshire in 2026, including a CSI2* Grand Prix victory at Tryon, demonstrating that experience remains a formidable asset when combined with speed, precision and a well-established partnership.
