Nina Mallevaey’s Masterful Performances Top the ATCO Cup CSIO 5* at Spruce Meadows

Calgary, Canada โ€“ September 04, 2025 โ€“ โ€œThrowback Thursdayโ€ started at the Spruce Meadows Masters Tournament CSIO 5* & CSI 2* with the running of the $62,505 ATCO Cup CSIO 5* on the International Ring. Athletes were challenged over the original track from the 1976 โ€˜Mastersโ€™ Grand Prixโ€”with a few modifications from FEI course designer Leopoldo Palacios (VEN).

Fresh off her win of the โ‚ฌ501,500 Rolex Grand Prix CSIO 5*, presented by Audi at Brussels, French rider Nina Mallevaey (FRA) jumped to victory in the 1.50m challenge . The big material that made up the track (much of it original material from the course in 1976) was no problem for her chestnut mare, My Clementine.

Mallevaey galloped through the finish line of the winning round clear, in a time of 46.16s that could not be caught.

Another young rider stood out amongst all the more experienced ones. Eugenio Garza Perez (MEX) rode Victer Finn DH Z towards silver honors, doing so in 48.09 seconds.

One of the all-time great female riders, Laura Kraut (USA) and Tres Bien Z tried to give the young ones a run for their money but her effort was in vain. She did manage to earn bronze honors after registering no penalties in 48.63 seconds.
