Sariego, Spain โ July 06, 2025 โ The CSI 3* Maeza came to a close in Sariego with an unusual result for equestrian sport: a tie. Swedenโs Jonna Ekberg (SWE) and Spainโs Armando Trapote (ESP) shared first place after finishing with exactly the same time in the jump-off of the Maeza Grand Prix.

The Maeza Grand Prix, contested over 1.50โฏm fences, ended with five double clears after twelve combinations qualified for the jump-off. In that final round, Armando Trapote (ESP) set an early benchmark time of 45.24 seconds with Cochiloco PS, which would ultimately prove to be the winning time.

However, those 45.24 seconds did not belong to Trapote alone. Jonna Ekberg (SWE), well known for producing young horses, was more competitive than ever. Although she didnโt manage to beat Trapoteโs time, she did match it exactly. To everyoneโs surprise, when she crossed the finish line with Bjurfors Orca Sit Z, the clock stopped at precisely 45.24 seconds, resulting in both Trapote and Ekberg being declared joint winners of the Maeza Grand Prix, as no other rider could better their time.
Third place went to Colombiaโs Nicolรกs Toro (COL) with Le Macho BH on 48.46 seconds, while two promising young Spanish riders secured fourth and fifth: Diego Ramos Maneiro (ESP) was fourth with Hero, and local rider Pablo Santiago Artime (ESP) finished fifth with Tanka du Marais, just one hundredth of a second behind.
Both winners received their trophies from Christina Bares and Estanislao Fuentes, representing Yeguada Finca Maeza.
