Geneva, Switzerland – December 14, 2024 – Brazil is very well represented at the CHI of Geneva in Switzerland, considered by many, the most famous International indoor showjumping event in the world, which began last Thursday and continues until Sunday. On Saturday, living up to his status as the Pan-American champion and best Brazilian rider in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, Stephan Barcha (BRA) led Chevaux Hex Lup Império Egípcio, a 14-year-old Brazilian Sport gelding to victory in the speed event €30,000 Great Chasse Prize CSI 5*, with obstacles set at the height of 1.45 meters.
Stephan and Hex Lup crossed the finish line without any penalties and in 69s99, being the only ones to finish below the seventy-second mark, beating 15 other top combinations from around the world. The 2nd and 3rd places were claimed by the Swiss team, Barbara Schnieper (SUI) and Judy KM and Antony Bourquard with Fifty Fifty Delacense, who finished in 70s49 and 72s31, respectively after foot-perfect rounds.
On Thursday, 12/12, Stephan had already secured 2nd place in the 1.40m speed event, with no penalties in 53s02, riding Dirka Império Egipicio. The victory went to the Swiss Barbara Schnieper (SUI) with Judy KM, a duo that was runner-up in the 1.45m event on Saturday, finishing in 53s02. The competition had 77 pairs.
This Sunday, the 15th, the Rolex GP, part of the Rolex Grand Slam of Showjumping, will take place at 1.60m, starting at 2:30 pm (local time) and 08:30 am (EST New York time). Stephan promises to be ready with Chevaux Primavera Império Egípcio, a Brazilian Sport Horse (BH) mare with which he was the Pan-American champion and finished 5th in the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. In addition to Stephan, another brazilian Olympic rider, Yuri Mansur (BRA), is also competing in Geneva.
