Only three of the seventeen first-round entries advanced to the tiebreaker. In the end, it was Mendoza who mastered the course and the competition aboard the 12-year-old bay Zangersheide gelding (I’m Special de Muze x Air Jordan) she owns with her mother. The dynamic duo earned top honors in the 1.50m challenge backed by a penalty-free jump-off performance in 34.06 seconds.

The other two combinations in the decisive round also managed to go clean all the way to the wire. Daniel Bluman (ISR) and Hummer Z secured reserve honors in 34.48 seconds while Sean Jobin (CAN) and Coquelicot vh Heuvelland Z rounded out the top three in 35.13 seconds.

Jessica is hoping to climb one spot higher on the podium this Saturday. At last yearโ€™s Royal Horse Show, the pair placed second in the $272,000 Longines FEI Jumping World Cupโ„ข Toronto and are hoping to go one better on Saturday night.
