Julien Anquetin Crowned Leading Showjumper at the Horse of the Year Show CSI 3*

Birmingham, England โ€“ October 13, 2024 โ€“ French rider Julien Anquetin (FRA) saved his best until last to be crowned Leading Showjumper of the Year at the Horse of the Year Show, winning the โ‚ฌ56,800 Grand Prix of Birmingham CSI 3* at the Horse of the Year Show CSI 3*.

Julien guided Farah Tame to an outstanding win, clocking 38.92 seconds to give his preparations for the World Cup indoor season lift-off.

Swedenโ€™s Angelie von Essen (SWE) took second aboard Daniel on 40.55 seconds, with third place going to British challenger Adrian Whiteway (GBR) on Chacco Volo.

Defending HOYS grand prix champion Jodie Hall McAteer (GBR) was fourth, with reigning national champion Rebecca Marsh (GBR) fifth and triple Olympic gold medallist Ben Maher (GBR) in sixth.

It brought the curtain down on HOYSโ€™ 75th anniversary, concluding a memorable showjumping programme across national and international classes.

Julien said: โ€œThe first thing is to say thank you to the organisers. It is a very good show, and the ambience was amazing.โ€

โ€œI am really happy and it is very good preparation for the start of my indoor season โ€“ we go to the Helsinki World Cup next.โ€

โ€œI went at the end of the jump-off because I was fastest in the first round, so I did a slower jump-off than normal. It was easier to win from the end of the jump-off than at the start, for sure.โ€

โ€œIt will be a good night tonight. Everything went incredibly well.โ€
