Dublin, Ireland – August 16, 2024 – The 2024 Underwriting Exchange Nations Cup at the RDS Dublin Horse Show concluded on Friday with a thrilling victory for the United States of America, who claimed the highly coveted Aga Khan Trophy. The USA team delivered an exceptional performance in the main arena, with Ireland placing in second with just one fence between the two teams. This was the third victory in the FEI Jumping Nations Cup of Ireland CSIO 5* by Team USA and the at the event since 2017.
Spencer Smith (USA) got the team off to the perfect start by going clear with Keeneland in the first round and duplicated the feat in the second round.
Both Lucy Davis (USA) on Ben 431 and Aaron Vale (USA) with Carissimo 25 matched Spencer’s first round impecable performance, putting foot-perfect rounds all the way to the wire. Each of the two combinations had a fence down in the second round but that didn’t matter much because the team had finished the first round with no penalty-points after McLain Ward (USA) guided Contagious impecably in round 1 too.

In the end, as the anchorman, it was up to Ward to seal the deal and like many times before, he didn’t disappoint with another fantastic run that gave the team the coveted trophy.
The Aga Khan trophy was presented by the Lord Mayor of Dublin, Councillor James Geoghegan.
The Aga Khan Trophy, one of the most prestigious prizes in the equestrian world, has been contested at the RDS Dublin Horse Show since 1926.
