Wiesbaden, Germany – May 19, 2024 – The victory in the €105,500 Longines Grand Prix of Wiesbaden CSI 4* goes to Belgium! Koen Vereecke (BEL) and Kasanova de La Pomme galloped towards top honors at the 2024 Longines PfingstTurnier Wiesbaden CSI 4* on Monday.
In thrilling fashion, five combinations, out of the original 39 entries who competed in the first round of the 1.60m challenge, advanced to the tiebreaker. In the end, it was the Belgian who prevailed against two Germans, a Brazilian and a Swede, guiding Joris de Brabander’s 14-year-old bay Belgian Warmblood mare (Bamako de Muze x Malito de Reve) accross the finish line in flawless fashion while tripping the timers in 54.56 seconds.
The only other duo to leave all the poles up in the decisive round was Anna Maria Kuhlmann (GER) on Pegasus Deau Re Mi for reserve honors. There was logic in the order of the class since the most successful rider of the tournament was also Koen Vereecke (BEL), the most successful female rider was Anna Maria Kuhlmann (GER).
Nicola Pohl (GER) and Catz de Sulpice were the fastest among all the finalists, but their time of 50.75 came at the expense of four penalty-points, still good enough for bronze honors.
