
Mannheim, Germany – May 08, 2024 – The 2024 edition of the Maimarkt Turnier came to an end on Tuesday due to the holiday and they saved the best for last, the €85,000 Badenia Grand Prix of MVV CSIO 3*. In the end it was Richard Vogel (GER) who brought joy to his countrymen as he guided Cydello towards another amazing victory.
Adding more drama to the spectacles, besides counting points for the Longines Ranking, the 1.60m class was also counted for the 2024 Olympic Games and the 2025 European Championships. The first round was contested by forty-six combinations but only ten managed to advance to challenge
Vogel was victorious with the 10-year-old chestnut Hanoverian gelding (Cascadello x Forsyth FRH), once again displaying daring speed throughout the course before finally crossing the finish line in 41.74 seconds.
It was a one-two for the host nation as Christian Kukuk (GER) and Nice van’T Zorgvliet (Emerald van’t Ruytershof x Heartbreaker) gave the eventual winners a run for their money but had to settle for silver honors due to their final time of 42.49 seconds.
Wilma Hellström (SWE) denied German riders a trifecta, piloting Cicci BJN (Ci Ci Senjor Ask x Tornesch 1042) towards bronze honors in 45.06 seconds.
