
Sharjah, The United Arab Emirates – February 18, 2024 – Michael Pender (IRL) and HHS Calais added another victory to their long list of great achievements last Sunday, claiming the feature class of the week, €164,700 H.H. The Ruler of Sharjah Cup CSI 5*-W, presented by Longines as the grand finale of H.H. The Ruler of Sharjah Cup CSI 5*-W at the Sharjah Equestrian & Racing Club.
Pender was powered to first place by the 13-year-old bay Irish Sport Horse gelding (Cavalier Royale x Obos Quality), clearing all the 1.55m obstacles on the jump-off course designed by Louis Konickx (NED) before crossing the final timers in 50.39 seconds.

One of the most consistent riders competing in several events in United Arab Emirates so far this year, Celine Schoonbroodt de Azevedo (BEL) was back on the podium again, this time guiding Deesse des Embruns towards second place. The Belgian also left all the poles up and registered no penalties, the difference being her final time of 50.70 seconds.

Two Irish combinations were represented amongst the top three as Shane Breen (IRL) and Scarteen rounded out the top three backed by a clean scorecard too, securing bronze honors in 51.64 seconds.
