
Basel, Switzerland – January 13, 2024 – French flag flies the highest! Kevin Staut (FRA) with Visconti du Telman opened a weekend of top sport at the 2024 Longines CHI Classics Basel CSI 5*-W wining the €200,000 Longines Grand Prix of Basel CSI 5*-W.
Forty-two combinations took part in the first round of the challenge, featuring obstacles set at the height of 1.60 meters on a course designed by Gérard Lachat (SUI). Going up against three othe combinations in the tiebreaker it was the Frenchman and the 15-year-old bay Selle Français mare (Toulon x Dollar du Murier) who prevailed, doing it so as the only ones to register a second clean performance, crossing the timers in 35.59 seconds.
Yuri Mansur (BRA) and QH Alfons Santo Antonio produced the fastest time amongst all the finalists, being timed in 32.93 seconds. Unfortunately, their mark came at the expense of one pole down,
The two remaining pairs shared bronze honors as Alain Jufer (SUI) on Dante MM, and Denis Lynch (IRL) with Cordial, each posted the same final score (4 penalty-points) and time of 37.13 seconds.
