Basel, Switzerland – January 11, 2024 – Hans-Dieter Dreher (GER) on Cous Cous were the Kings of the Day on Thursday at the 2024 Longines CHI Classic Basel CSI 5*-W, claiming the feature class the €60,000 Grand Hotel Les Trois Rois Basel CSI 3*.
The first class over 1.50cm of the event was the grand finale of the day, being contested by 38 combinations. In the end, it was the German and the 12-year-old grey Holsteiner gelding (Cachas x Lasino) who sped around the track, producing the fastest clean round in 56.36 seconds.
After finishing third in the €30,300 Thermoplan Prize CSI 5*-W earlier on the same day, Henrik von Eckermann (SWE) climbed one spot higher on the podium. This time the Swede guided Iliana towards silver honors in 58.91 seconds.
Kevin Staut (FRA) and Beau de Laubry Z rounded out the top three backed by a clean performance in 60.48 seconds.
