Madrid, Spain – November 25, 2023 – French riders dominated the €26,200 Marqués de Vargas Trophy CSI 5*-W, a 1.45-meter event at the IFEMA Madrid Horse Week CSI5*-W. The competition concluded the morning session of the second day on Saturday at the Spanish capital.
Faultless rounds were the trend in the Marqués de Vargas Trophy, along with French dominance, as two French riders secured the top positions. Olivier Robert (FRA) with Espri du Figuier, a 9-year-old Anglo-Arab (Upsilon x Ryon d’Anzex) with which he had competed in the Six Bars on Friday, set a time of 55.33 seconds in the initial part of the event, a record that no one could surpass.
His compatriot Philippe Rozier (FRA) with Dirty Sweet came closest, stopping the clock at 55.36 seconds. Only three hundredths separated the top two riders.

Following the two French riders, Therese Soehol Henriksen (NOR) with Iron Maiden secured the third position, improving on her tenth place in the previous day’s event. The Norwegian rider and the son of Quasimodo van de Molendreef have been consistently performing well in the competitions.
Jennifer Hochtadter (LIE) with Tinka’s Hero Z and Maikel van der Vleuten with Elwikke completed the top 5, appearing at the trophy presentation, where Pelayo de la Mata, Marqués de Vargas, and Conde de San Cristóbal awarded Olivier Robert the winner’s trophy.
