Peder Fredricson Wins the “Duel of World Number Ones” in the $245,000 Sport 1 Grand Prix CSI 2*

Oslo, Norway – October 13, 2023 – A duel of number ones! That is. two former number-one riders in the Longines World Ranking, battling it out to see who would take the title of the NOK $245,000 Sport 1 Grand Prix CSI 2* last Friday and it was Peder Fredricson (SWE) who prevailed!

At the end of the first round of the contest and 48 performances, only two combinations had managed to complete Elio Travagliati‘s (ITA) challenging course without having any penalties attributed to them, two names that need no introduction, Steve Guerdat (SUI) and Peder Fredricson (SWE).

Guerdat was faster on Albfuehren`s Iashin Sitte but their time of 33.86 seconds came at the expense of one pole down while Fredricson (SWE) flew to first with Expression from Second Life Z, a 9-year-old bay Zangersheide mare (Emerald x Nissan Caretano Z), registering the only clean scorecard of the 1.45m challenge, crossing the jump-off timers in 35.74 seconds.

Erica Swartz Ryan‘s (SWE) conservative approach tackling the course with Cavicii Z‘s paid off as the duo earned bronze honors. They did leave all the poles up in the first round but exceeded the time allowed of 83 seconds by over one second (1.68), thus having two time penalty-points attributed to their final score.
