Deauville, France – August 12, 2023 – It seems that the summer season on French soil has brought out the best in Laura Kraut (USA) and her horses. After winning the €100,000 Grand Prix de La Ville de Chantilly CSI 4* about a month earlier and before going on to finish second in the €97,800 Longines Grand Prix de la Région Normandie CSI 4*, Kraut claimed top honors in the €27,200 Deauville Sotheby’s International Realty Small Grand Prix CSI 4* at the Pôle international du Cheval Longines – Deauville.

The 1.45m jump-off competition was contested by a whopping 85 combinations but the challenging first-round course took a toll on the participants and only 13 of them managed to advance to the tiebreaker. In the end, it was Laura and Calgary Tame, a 11-year-old chestnut Selle Français gelding (Old Chap Tame x Kashmir van Schuttershof) who tamed the course for a second time while securing the win in 36.94 seconds.
The host nation had victory snatched away from them as Marie Pellegrin (FRA) and Boreale de Fondcombe (Tinka’s Boy x Calvaro) put on two valiant efforts but had to settle for second place due to their final tiem of 37.37 seconds.
Another foreigner who has excelled on his summer tour in Europe, Stephan de Freitas Barcha (BRA) guided Chevaux Hex Lup Império Egípcio also posted two penalty-free performances, rounding out the top three in 37.90 seconds.
