Marvin Jüngel & Pessoa C Marvel along the Sea in the $109,000 PKO Bank Polski Grand Prix CSI 2*

Świnoujście, Poland – June 25, 2023 – Twenty-two-year-old German rider Marvin Jungel (GER) was victorious in the PLN $109,000 PKO Bank Polski Grand Prix CSI 2*, for the prize of PKO Bank Polski, under the patronage of the Mayor of Świnoujście – the finale of the showjumping rivalry at Cavaliada Summer.

Thirty-five horse-and-rider combinations took part in the 1.45m contest. The course proved to be really selective, as only three of them advanced into the jump-off. The most demanding part was the triple combination at the end of the track. A six-stride line from a triple bar to a big oxer, as well as the second combination of two delicate verticals PKO Bank Polski also played their part in the class. Poles fell all over, and the riders had to keep the time allowed in mind as well. The jump-off was really interesting. The athletes already secured a considerable amount of prize money, so no one was afraid to take a risk. Each of them went faster, with even smarter turns, and the top of the leaderboard kept changing.

Marvin Jungel  (GER) & Pessoa C

The victory by the young German is not a surprise. A month ago, Marvin Jungel (GER) was the best rider in the Hamburg Derby CSI 4* – one of the most prestigious classes in the world. He took his other horse to Świnoujście, but Pessoa C (Cicero Z van Paemel x San Patrignano Corrado) also proved to be a great.

“I am very happy. My horse jumped great throughout the whole competition without making a single mistake. Pessoa C is only 8 years old, so I’m even more pleased with this victory. The course was very demanding today, only three clears and a very fast jump-off, so I am very proud. I think the triple combination was the most difficult, a lot of found it tricky” says Marvin Jungel. He adds – We are right on the beach, we have beautiful weather, the show was very successful and I hope I can ride here again more than once.”

Carla Winkelmann (GER) & Enno 55

Second place was claimed by Carla Winkelmann (GER) with Enno 55 (Edward 28 x World Cup II), almost one second and half slower (36.51 seconds) than the eventual winners.

Adam Nicpon (POL) & Counter

Polish fans were happy to see one of their own on the podium as third place was conqured by Adam Nicpon (POL) and Counter (Cachas x Langenhagen), registering no penalties and a jump-off time of 38.56 seconds.
