Lorenzo de Luca & Carlson 86 Can’t Be Beaten in the €60,000 Hubside Grand Prix CSI 3*

Grimaud, France – April 30, 2023 – Just over two-tenths of a second! That was difference between the top three combinations in Sunday’s €60,000 Hubside Grand Prix CSI 3* to conclude a week of great sport at the Hubside Jumping de Grimaud.

Lorenzo de Luca (ITA) & Carlson 86

In the end, it was an Italian victory as Lorenzo de Luca (ITA) lit up on the big stage with Carlson 86, overcoming 9 other combinations in the tiebreaker, out of the original 41 who took part in the first round of the contest. De Luca (ITA) was both quick and clean over all the 1.50m obstacles on the Poden Farms2008 grey Baden-Württemberg / German Sport Horse gelding (Colorit x Auftritt), completing their final performance in flawless fashion, being timed in 40.93 seconds.

Angelica Augustsson Zanotelli (SWE) & Kalinka van de Nachtegaele

The competition was very fierce and the final results reflected that, In fact, first and second place were separated by mere eight-hundredths of a second. Angelica Augustsson Zanotelli (SWE) and Kalinka van de Nachtegaele were right on the heels of the eventual winners, going neck-to-neck with them all the way to the wire, finishing second only due to their jump-off time of 41.01 seconds.

Gregory Wathelet (BEL) & Argentina de La Marchette

Moreover, the third-place finishers were not too off the mark established by the winning combination. After a victorious winter season in the United States of America, highlighted by wins and top placings together, Gregory Wathelet (BEL) and Argentina de La Marchette (Acajou de La Marchette x Del Piero PB) were consistent again. They finished just over two-tenths of a second slower, twenty-one hundredths to be precise, registering no penalties in 41.14 seconds to secure bronze honors.
