San Miguel de Allende, Mexico – April 28, 2023 – A fantastic Friday! Laura Kraut (USA) was the star of the day on Friday at Otomi Club Hípico. Before delivering three clean rounds with Baloutinue, including the winning jump-off performance to help team USA clinch the win in the $5,060,000 Longines FEI Nations Cup™ of Mexico CSIO 5*, Kraut had already shone the brightest, teaming up with Bisquetta for victory in the MXN $1,205,000 Conade Jump-off Challenge CSIO 5*.
A total of 56 combinations entered the ring for the 1.50m challenge but only 11 managed to leave all the poles up and complete the course within the time allowed of 86 seconds. Ten pairs took part in the tiebreaker but it was Kraut and the 9-year-old mare (Bisquet Balou Vd Mispelaere x Takashi Van Berkenbroek) who prevailed, completing their second penalty-free performance in 42.27 seconds.
Andres Azcarraga (MEX) and Contendros 2 (Contendro I x Drosselklang) were right on the heels of the eventual winners, matching the two clean rounds of Kraut, finishing just nineteen-hundredths of a second behind the winners.
Mexico managed to put two combinations amongst the top three. Sofia Larrea B (MEX) and Drumconnick Verdi (Verdi TN x Padinus) also produced two flawless rounds, earning bronze honors in 44.60 seconds.
