Richard Howley Races to Third Victory in Two Weeks at the Andalucía Sunshine Tour CSI 4*

Vejer de La Frontera, Spain – March 23, 2023 – In the very last seconds of the €10,650 Big Tour Speed Challenge CSI 4*, contested by 105 top riders, the amazing Irish rider Richard Howley (IRL) flew around the grass David Broome arena, in 57.92s shaving off 0.03s from the then leader, Brazilian rider Pedro Veniss (BRA).

Richard rode Sarah Borthwick’s 13-year-old bay Dutch Warmblood stallion Fame (VDL Harley x Investment), a ride he took on for her back in 2019 and with whom he has developed a super partnership. Up to that point Pedro had looked pretty unbeatable, with the stallion Boeckmanns Lord Pezi Junior (Böckmann’s Lord Pezi x Quattro), owned by Camila Veniss, but in the end they had to make do with second place with their round of 57.95 seconds.

The early leader in the class was another very fast German rider, Michael Viehweg (GER) with Comanche 29 (Comme Il Faut x Levantos I), who also finished in under 60 seconds, claiming third place backed by a penalty-free performance in 59.31 seconds.

Final Results – €10,650 Big Tour Qualifier CSI 4*

1) Richard Howley (IRL) & Fame – 0 – 57.92

2) Pedro Veniss (BRA) & Boeckmanns Lord Pezi Jr – 0 – 57.95
