
Opglabbeek, Belgium – February 18, 2023 – Belgian back on top! After a busy Friday highlighted by an all-Belgian podium in the feature class of the day, the Henders & Hazel Prize CSI 4* won by Marthe Heudens (BEL) and Newton van`T Zorgvliet (Thunder van de Zuuthoeve x Balou du Rouet), once again a rider representing the host nation stole the spotlight at The Zangersheide International CSI 4*.
This time it was Koen Vereecke (BEL) and Arioso du Bois who provided joy to most of the Belgian spectators present at Sentower Park, claming top honors in the €26,325 Collé Rental & Sales Speed Challenge CSI 4*. Eleven out of the 52 combinations who took part in the 1.50m challenge managed to clear all the obstacles and at least complete the course, designed by Rafael Suarez (GBR) and his team, within the time allowed of 74 seconds.
In the end, it was Vereecke who was victorious aboard the 2010 bay Selle Français gelding (Rock’N Roll Semilly x Qredo de Paulstra), doing so in 61.37 seconds. Georgia Tame (GBR) and Curiano van de Maarle Z (Canabis Z x Germus R) were the closest ones, securing the second spot on the podium in 61.80 seconds while Omer Karaevli (TUR) rounded out the top three aboard Livingstone van het Peggershof (Ogano Sitte x Thunder Vd Zuuthoeve) in 62.32 seconds.
